Hospital

Well, this last week has definitely been interesting. On Tuesday Vita started feeling yucky at around 2:30pm. By the time I got Braxton back from his baseball game Vita had a very high temp and was sitting in front of the front room window with it open and not feeling really well. He ended up moving the couch in front of the window and kept it open all night (snowing and all). On Wednesday morning I asked him if I could take him to the doctor. He said he would be ok. By 10:00 am he walked very slowly to me and told me he was kind of worried because his whole body ached and he couldn't move very well. He was also so hot that he was sweating. I called and got him in to the doctor and they checked him out. His temp was 104 and he was satting (breathing) at 80. Normal is 100. So Dr. Brown sent him for some xrays and labs and then admitted him to the hospital. This was Vita's first time every in a hospital (he wasn't even born in one!) and the first time ever needing an IV. HE HATED IT!!! Justin and Teddy came and gave him a blessing and then we found out that not only did he have pneumonia but also influenza B. I guess a lot of people get influenza A but not a lot of people get B. Everybody that came to see him or take care of him had to wear a mask and a gown because he was so contagious. So he got a lot of fluids and medication and oxygen and we were finally able to bring him home this morning. We are so glad to have him home and this for sure taught me a lesson. I am never going to take my husband for granted again. I was so torn between taking care of my sick kids (they are all 4 on medication and doing pretty much the same things as Vita was) and taking care of my husband. I was so lucky to have my dad right there in town to help with the kids. I am sorry that we all got him sick though. It has always been me on the hospital bed with Vita making all the decisions. It was so hard having the roles switched and watching my "untouchable" big strong Tongan husband laying there with that far away look on his face suffering. I couldn't do anything to help him. His fever was so high and he just felt rotten. I never want to see that look on his face again, so you better always stay strong honey! I am so thankful that I was able to call my brother and have him come and give my husband a blessing. The Spirit was so strong in that room at that moment and for that I am grateful. I am glad that my honey is home and going to get better and that the kids are getting better also. I hope we don't have to go through this again! Thanks also to Dr. Brown for taking such good care of all of us!

Oh, man! I'm so sorry Tevita has been so sick! That's right up there with your kids being sick, isn't it? I hope he's on the mend soon and you are all well. Have I mentioned I can't wait for Spring and no more sickness?

Doesn't sound like much fun. Pnemonia is no fun. Deven got it a few months ago. He didn't have to get hospitalized, but he said he never felt so crappy in all his life. So I hope he is doing better and we wish you guys a speedy recovery. Shirlyn

About Me

My photo
Tevita and I met 13 years ago in Provo Utah. What a cutie he was! In June we will have been married for 12 years. It is hard to believe that we have been married that long but yep, here we are coming up on 12. We have 5 beautiful children that keep us pretty busy. We also have 3 angel baby boys that we know we will be with after this life. We have so many different personalities in this house but there is one thing for sure...we love each other and are grateful for this family! What a great life!
