Grandma turns 100

I know I am posting this late, but I wanted to wait until I got the pictures. Anyways, on July 24, 2008 my Great Grandma Christensen turned 100 years old! Let me tell you a little about my grandma. When my dad was 8 years old my Great Grandma took him to her house to raise him. Like she told me on her birthday, "we raised him as if he were our own". My grandma is truly an amazing woman. We grew up with her living right down the street from her. She took care of everybody. Some of my favorite things were to go to her house and sit on the porch with her and grandpa and they would tell stories and sing songs. I loved going to grandmas house to eat dinner. She would always have bread and milk, a piece of cheese, a piece of ham, and a piece of onion. She would tell me to take a little bite of each of them and chew them all together. Boy, what I would give to be able to sit in that kitchen and eat that meal with them again! No matter when you went to grandma's house she was busy doing something. I loved her homemade bread and goulosh. You know, I watched her bake that bread all the time, but no matter how I try I cannot do it. We also loved going to grandma's house on Christmas morning for hot cakes. Even after she went blind she made them for us. I owe so much to my grandma. She is such an example for our family. When my parents got divorced and my mom lived in Richfield, I drove back and forth from Gunnison to Richfield because mom and I didn't want me to change schools for my junior year. Grandma didn't like me driving so when I didn't have to work, I got to live with Grandma. I had my own room and that was the best part of my parents being divorced. Not that I wanted my parents to be divorced, I just loved the time I got to live with Grandma. She taught me so much and I will never forget all the times we just sat and talked. I loved her stories and I loved that she loved my mom even though they were divorced. When my parents got back together Grandma said, "It's about time your dad started thinking!" At Grandma's party, she started asking me at 2:30 what time it was. Her party was from 2-4. I told her and kept her updated on the time. She sat through all the pictures so well and at 3:30 she said she had enough and wanted to go home. I guess if you turn 100 years old, you have the right to leave your own birthday party before it is over! She got to be the Grand Marshall in the parade, which was a pretty special thing for her! I love her so much and I wish I lived closer to her so my kids could spend as much time with her as I did. I love you Grandma!

Wow, that is so great that your Grandma had her 100th B-Day. I remember visiting her with my mom and with the young women. She was always knitting something.

What a milestone. I've always thought a lot of your grandma; she is a very kind person and a great example. No matter what trial she was faced with, she's always just moved forward. What a special lady she is.

Tevita and I met 13 years ago in Provo Utah. What a cutie he was! In June we will have been married for 12 years. It is hard to believe that we have been married that long but yep, here we are coming up on 12. We have 5 beautiful children that keep us pretty busy. We also have 3 angel baby boys that we know we will be with after this life. We have so many different personalities in this house but there is one thing for sure...we love each other and are grateful for this family! What a great life!
